JET FUEL JET A-1; JP54

Also called aviation turbine fuel (ATF, also abbreviated avtur) is a type of aviation fuel designed for use in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines.

1. Jet A-1 (Jet Fuel A-1):

    • Description: Jet A-1 is a widely used aviation fuel that meets stringent international specifications. It is a kerosene-type fuel designed for use in jet turbine engines.
    • Properties: Clear to straw-colored liquid with a relatively low freezing point and a high flash point. It has a relatively low viscosity and provides good energy content.
    • Applications: Used in commercial aviation, including airlines and military aircraft, as well as in general aviation.

2. JP-54 (Jet Propellant 54):

    • Description: JP-54 is an older term referring to a type of aviation turbine fuel that has been phased out and replaced by Jet A-1 in most applications due to its lower quality and limited availability.
    • Properties: Similar to Jet A-1, but with slightly different specifications. It is less common and often not as refined as Jet A-1.
    • Applications: Historically used in specific military and commercial aviation applications, but less prevalent today due to the transition to higher-quality fuels like Jet A-1.
